Agreement on joint responsibility for data protection at the Institute of biomass research
We undertake joint research at the Institute of biomass research.
We are Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT) and Ansbach University of Applied Sciences (HSA).
Our current data protection officers are Prof. Dr Anton Buchmeier (HSWT) and Prof. Sascha Müller-Feuerstein (HSA).
Purposes and means of processing
It was established within the scope of the ‘Nordbayern-Initiative’ (Northern Bavaria Initiative) in March 2016 and is located at the Triesdorf campus of HSWT in western Middle Franconia. At the same time, it is one of four institutions at the Centre for Research and Continuing Education at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences.
Under the umbrella of the Institute of biomass research, both universities work closely together to achieve their strategic goal of continuously developing the material and energy utilisation of biomass.

To this end, we undertake joint research, share information at scientific events and inform the public via our shared website.
HSWT is responsible for operating the website. Consequently, HSWT is also the point of contact for data subjects.

- Data protection friendly default settings
- Application of data security
- Reporting and documentation of security incidents
- Notification of data subjects
- Duties to inform data subjects, and rights of data subjects
Leibniz Computing Centre (LRZ) at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities has been commissioned to host the website and ensure its technical security.
We have shared responsibility for our joint research and scientific events.
The technical details of data security, organizational data protection measures and the systems used are described in an annex (not for publication) to this Agreement.
