Soil science laboratory
Various soil analyses are conducted in our soil science laboratory (Pyka).
These are divided into field tests and laboratory tests.
Here is a detailed overview of our analysis possibilities in the field of soil science:
Field tests
- Rainfall simulator for determining the risk of soil erosion (Eijkelkamp)
- Dual-cylinder infiltrometer compliant with DIN 19682-7 or tension infiltrometer for determining the infiltration rate
- Small motorised drill for ram core drilling for the extraction of disturbed and undisturbed soil samples (Cobra Atlas Copco) or for soil mapping (Pürckhauer boring rods)
- Equipment for conducting pumping tests, for the extraction of ground water samples and for determining the physico-chemical field parameters
- Dynamic probing according to DIN EN ISO 22476-2 as an indirect extraction method for investigating the underground conditions
- Determination of the thermal conductivity of soils in the area, for the construction of ground heat collectors, for example (FTNO2, Hukseflux)
Laboratory tests
- Determination of consistency limits and the shrinkage limit of soils according to DIN 18122 T1 and T2
- Determination of the particle density of soils using the capillary pycnometer according to DIN 18124
- Determination of the particle size distribution of soils according to DIN 18123
- Determination of soil density in the laboratory or field test according to DIN 18125
- Determination of the optimum compressibility of soils (Proctor test) according to DIN 18127
- Determination of the water permeability of soils according to DIN 18130 in the standpipe unit with either a variable hydraulic gradient or a constant hydraulic gradient
- System for implementing soil column tests for determining hydraulic conductivity and dispersibility, and for determining the elution patterns of organic and inorganic substances according to DIN 19528
- Description and evaluation of the soil structure according to DIN 19682-10 and FAL 41
- Determination of the thermal conductivity of soils (single and dual needle probe, KD2 Pro, Decagon Devices)
- Determination of the water tension of soils using the dew point method (WP4C, Decagon Devices)
- Determination of the relationship between suction tension and water retention in soils using the underpressure method (sand/kaolin box) and the overpressure method
- Determination of the loss on ignition (LOI) according to DIN 18128
- Determination of the soil pH according to DIN ISO 10390:2005-12
